Dear readers! This will be the first post of many. This is the area where the story, development and activities of Buinho will be told.
When did Buinho came into existence?
Buinho started in 2014 as an informal group of young people concerned with social innovation and youth empowerment through entrepreneurship and product design. Buinho then evolved into a cultural association. It was officially founded in the historic village of Messejana, Portugal in 2015. Recently Buinho became officially the 16th Portuguese member of the MIT network. This means Buinho is an official Portuguese Fablab in a rural area. That is exciting, right?!
What is our main focus?
Now, you know a bit more about the start of Buinho. What about the main focus? Buinho intersects traditional knowledge about endogenous materials and craftsmanship, with technology and design driven processes. Embedded in the local values, culture and lifestyle of Alentejo, Buinho is both a place to stay and a place to play.
Buinho is still at its beginning, but as the present fades, we are thrilled to see what the future has in store for us!
